Before You Start: Check Your TRX Balance

Every USDT-TRC20 transfer requires Energy, which is paid in TRX. Without TRX in your wallet, the transfer will fail. As a rule of thumb:

  • Keep at least 30–50 TRX in any wallet you use to send USDT.
  • If you stake TRX, you receive Energy for free and avoid fee burns entirely.
  • Without staked TRX, expect each USDT transfer to cost roughly 13–27 TRX.

How to Find Your TRC20 Address

Open your wallet (TronLink, Trust Wallet, imToken, or Ledger). Navigate to "Receive" → select USDT → choose the TRON / TRC20 network. Your address will be a 34-character string starting with the letter "T". This same address also receives native TRX.

  • Sending TRC20 to an ERC20 address: If the recipient address starts with "0x" instead of "T", do not send — funds will be lost.
  • Insufficient TRX for fees: Always maintain a TRX buffer. Without it, your transfer gets stuck.
  • Copy-paste errors: Malware can replace clipboard addresses. Always verify the first and last 4 characters of the pasted address.
  • Network mismatch: Confirm both sender and recipient wallets are set to the TRC20 / TRON network before transferring.

Transfer Speed and Cost

TRC20 confirmations typically appear within 1–3 minutes. Exchange withdrawals may require 10–20 block confirmations before the funds are credited, adding a few extra minutes. Transfer fees run $0.10–$0.50 per transaction — regardless of whether you send $1 or $1,000,000.

Using TronScan to Track Your Transfer

TronScan (tronscan.org) is TRON's official block explorer. Paste your transaction hash (TXID) into the search bar to see real-time confirmation status, the sending and receiving addresses, the amount transferred, and the fee paid. If a transfer appears "pending" for more than 5 minutes, it may have failed due to insufficient Energy — check your TRX balance.
